Eighty-five year-old Stella Szabat of Oil City takes in the grandeur of the ballroom on the upper level of the Latonia Theater building Friday evening following a ribbon cutting and formal opening of the space. In 1941 Szabat was one of the first female ushers that worked the aisles of the grand 1,500-seat theater. Szabat was one of hundreds that made their way through the building Friday evening during an open house. Roxanne Hitchcock and Linda Henderson purchased the landmark theater last April and are in the process of refurbishing the building starting with the upper floor ballroom and conference area.
