Fourth Annual Oil Country Bluegrass Festival Shapes Up The Oil City Arts Council and United Way of Venango County are excited to announce that the 4th Annual Oil Country Bluegrass Festival is ‘ready to roll’. This great annual event will be held on February 18, 19 and 20, 2011 at Americas Best Value Inn and Suites, ‘The Arlington Hotel’, in Oil City, PA. All proceeds will benefit United Way of Venango County and the Oil City Arts Council, both non-profit organizations. Also on tap for the weekend are basket raffles, a guitar raffle, a mandolin raffle, 50/50 raffles, good food, home baked cookies, jam sessions, t-shirt sales, CD sales, and trolley excursions (weather permitting) to the Transit Arts Gallery and Artist Studios on Saturday, Feb. 19, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Many festival goers enjoy visiting downtown businesses and are encouraged to do so. Ron Shoup, one of the festival coordinators, comments, “We deeply thank all of these wonderful bands for contributing of their time and talent in support of United Way of Venango County and the Oil City Arts Council.” The hotel management will again be giving special reduced lodging rates for the festival. Rooms may be reserved by calling (814) 676-1221. At last check, hotel rooms were still available, but they are being booked rapidly. Food will be available at the hotel restaurant, with dinner buffets being served on Friday and Saturday evenings and a breakfast buffet being served on Saturday morning. A continental breakfast will be served on Sunday morning. Luncheon food and beverages will also be available on site. Fine food is also available at numerous other surrounding restaurants. Bluegrass festival goers can also take the opportunity to enjoy shopping at local businesses, the Transit Fine Art Gallery, Transit Artist Studios and community specialty shops. Weather permitting, the Oil City Civic Center’s National Transit Express trackless trolley will be available on Saturday, February 19, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. to shuttle festival goers from the hotel to the Transit Fine Arts Gallery and Transit Artist Studios.
